CANCELED - 2020 VETERANS DAY PROGRAM

             PLACEMENT OF FLAGS TO CONTINUE

It is with the deepest regret we must cancel this year’s Veterans Day  Program at the

West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery has been canceled.  The certainty of past

COVID-19 deaths and the potential impact of failed social distancing requires us to

be mindful of the danger of any size group gathering.  At this writing, most of us are

trying to be true to the “social distancing and wearing of mask orders" because that

is the only way to limit the spread of this disease.

Every day we remember and respect our loved ones and other veterans and their

families for sacrifices they made for us every day.  The delegated dates on a calendar

give us an opportunity to come together as a group to put on programs to remember

and respect our loved ones and other veterans and their families for sacrifices they

made for us.  If we are unable to come together as a physical group on particular

dates, we can still remember and respect our loved ones and other veterans and

their families from our individual homes for sacrifices they made for us. Every aspect

of our efforts to present a program at the cemetery involves consideration for those

attending the program, those volunteers called upon to place the individual flags, and

to work the program to make it meaningful and heartfelt.

With a heavy heart, the prudent thing to do is to cancel this year’s Veterans Day

Program and have volunteers place and retrieve the individual flags while

observing social distancing and wearing a mask when required.

PLACEMENT OF INDIVIDUAL FLAGS - SATURDAY, NOV. 7 - 8:00 a.m.

RETRIEVAL OF INDIVIDUAL FLAGS - SATURDAY, NOV. 14 - 8:00 a.m.
